Four Valleys ski areaChalet Luca is in a little hamlet 150m above La Tzoumaz or Mayens-de-Riddes, which lies on a high slope above the Rhone Valley at 1500m . It is part of the Four Valleys ski area - one of the largest in Europe. The friendly village has an excellent ski infrastructure and as well as its own ski area, it is linked to Verbier by a brand new express 8 man gondola. This gives access to over 400km of runs. One of Europe’s longest toboggan runs winds its way 10km down from the top of the gondola, descending 1000m in the process. La Tzoumaz has all the usual facilities of a lively family resort, lots of teashops, bars and restaurants and a good supermarket with an excellent butcher and baker. There is a free bus service around the village in the winter season, but a car is a much better option for the shopping and nightlife. You can ski in and out of the chalet, so no driving is required during the day. La Tzoumaz can be easily reached by car from the south of England in about 10 hours. Alternatively Geneva airport is 1 and half hours away and Sion airport is under 30 minutes. Flights to these airports are possible from all over the UK. |
